During the second quarter, small businesses continued to grow slightly more optimistic about their overall financial condition, but perceptions of the U.S. economy remained very poor. Price increases have slowed, and sales and profit margins have improved. Yet excess cash reserves remain limited. At the same time, only a small portion of small businesses have applied for additional credit, although a growing number appear to be considering it.
With the help of Barlow Research Associates, we survey nearly 800 small and middle market businesses quarterly and share that data with you, our valued partners. Understanding how small businesses feel about economic position, economic confidence and credit outlook can drive better business decisions.
