Industry Insight Report: Pest Control Q3-2025
As climate-driven pest threats rise across the U.S., Texas continues to see steady demand for pest control services, especially in suburban and fast-growth areas. Buyer interest remains high, with recurring revenue models and route density attracting premium valuations. At Lion Business Advisors, we’re seeing strong acquisition appetite from regional buyers and private equity-backed platforms expanding into Texas markets.
Major Industry Development
Tick infestations are surging across several U.S. regions, including Texas, due to warmer climates and longer seasons. Terminix data, highlighted in Pest Control Technology, ranks Texas among the top five most tick-infested states. This public health trend is pushing residential service demand higher, especially for companies offering proactive treatment plans.
For sellers, this signals a window of opportunity: firms that position themselves as public health partners, not just exterminators, may command stronger interest and pricing. Businesses offering recurring, seasonal tick control as part of a bundled service package are especially attractive to buyers.
Employment and Wage Trends
Employment in exterminating and pest control services was essentially flat year-over-year in July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While job growth slowed recently, the sector still outperformed overall private employment over the past decade, growing 43.3% compared to just 13.0%. Three-year growth also remains above average at 9.7%.
Wage data reflects a different story. While hourly pay rose 6.5% in the past year to $25.32, longer-term wage growth (26.1% over 10 years) lagged behind the broader private sector (49%). This could be a mixed signal for buyers—on one hand, labor costs remain manageable; on the other, technician scarcity remains a risk, particularly in Texas where demand is outpacing supply.
Outlook for the Rest of 2025
Vertical IQ projects a 5.57% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for pest control services from 2025 to 2029, well above U.S. GDP growth expectations. Texas-specific data isn’t broken out, but given the state’s continued population expansion and warm climate, local demand is expected to outperform national averages.
If you’re considering a sale or planning for a future exit, now is a great time to get a confidential valuation or explore ways to improve your business’s marketability.
