2026 Is Your Year: How to Start Strong and Finish Legendary

Start 2026 Strong Action Plan for Business Owners
2026 is almost here.
And I want you to know something: This is your year.

Not because the market is perfect. Not because conditions are ideal. Not because everything is going to be easy.
But because YOU’RE ready. You’ve learned. You’ve grown. You’ve overcome. And now you’re positioned to make real moves.
The question is: Are you going to take them?
Here’s what I’ve noticed over the years: The owners who finish 2026 strong are the ones who START strong. They don’t wait. They don’t procrastinate. They don’t hope for the best.
They commit. They act. They execute.
And by December 31st, they’re amazed at what they’ve accomplished.
  • So here’s how to start 2026 strong:
    • Pick ONE thing. Not everything. Not a complete overhaul. Just ONE thing. Maybe it’s getting a valuation. Maybe it’s reducing owner dependency. Maybe it’s documenting your systems. Maybe it’s hiring a key person. Pick ONE thing and commit to it.
    • Make it specific. “I want to sell my business” is vague. “I want to get a professional valuation by January 31st and meet with a business broker by February 15th” is specific. Specific goals are achievable. Vague goals are wishes.
    • Create a timeline. When is it happening? January? February? Q1? Put it on your calendar. Make it real. Make it non-negotiable.
    • Tell someone. Don’t keep your goal to yourself. Tell your spouse. Tell your CPA. Tell your business broker. Tell someone who will hold you accountable. Public commitment is powerful.
    • Take the first step as soon as 2026 arrives. Not weeks in. Not after you’ve settled into the new year. In those first few days of January. What’s one small action you can take? Schedule a consultation? Make a phone call? Send an email? Do it early. Momentum starts with one small action, and the sooner you take it, the sooner you build real progress.
Here’s what happens when you do this:
You start 2026 with clarity. You know what you’re working toward. You know why it matters. You know when it’s happening.
And that clarity is powerful.
It changes how you make decisions. It changes how you spend your time. It changes what you prioritize.
Suddenly, things that seemed important aren’t. And things that seemed impossible become possible.
  • By the end of January, you’ve taken real action. You’ve had conversations you’ve been avoiding. You’ve made progress on your goal.
  • By the end of February, you’re in motion. You’re seeing results. You’re building momentum.
  • By the end of Q1, you’re amazed. You’ve accomplished more in three months than you did in the entire previous year.
And you’re just getting started.

But here’s the catch:
This only works if you START. If you commit. If you take action.
The owners who drift into 2026 without a plan? They’ll drift all year. And on December 31st, they’ll be in the same place they started.
The owners who START strong? They’ll finish legendary.
So here’s my challenge to you: Don’t be the owner who drifts. Be the owner who commits. Be the owner who acts.
Pick your ONE thing. Make it specific. Create a timeline. Tell someone. Take the first step early in January.
And watch what happens.

Your 2026 Kickoff Checklist:

Pick your ONE primary goal for 2026

Write it down. Make it specific. Make it measurable.

Create a timeline. When is it happening?

Tell someone. Make it public. Build accountability.

Schedule the first step. Put it on your calendar for early January.

Commit to taking action in the first week of 2026.

If your goal is selling your business in 2026:
This is the year. This is the time. The owners who start now are the ones who finish strong.
Reach out to a business broker or exit planning advisor before the new year hits. Have the conversation. Get a plan. Commit to it.
One conversation could change everything.

Next Steps

2026 is your year. But only if you make it.
Don’t drift. Don’t hope. Don’t wait.
Commit. Act. Execute.
Pick your ONE thing now. Plan to take the first step in early January. And watch what happens.
